work is being exhibited and sold internationally; but at the same time, many people are unaware of your talent. What do you think of fame and public recognition? Nicoletta: Whether my work is appreciated or not, I try not to congratulate or berate myself too much. I am as alone with my white sheet today as I was when I was an art student. I don’t care too much for the recognition I’ve been getting over these years. I am my worst critic, and I am never
happy with my work.
MK: Which of your paintings are you most fond of? Which one was the most challenging?
Nicoletta: Probably 'Contrary Mary’, the girl with a dragon coming from under her skirt. The skirts are an element I always like to
play with. They are extensions of the body that give off magic and power, often at the
center of my little women’s transformation. Skirts…exploding like lush flowers float
like fragile eggs, encase birds inside a body of crinoline…I'm fascinated by everything that is unusual, bizarre, beautiful, 'monstrous' freaks.
MK: You mostly work with acrylic and paper. What do you think of digital applications that many artists are transitioning to?
Nicoletta: Digital or traditional techniques are mediums that bring different challenges, and I love both. I also
