Porsche has a proud history of automotive racing. The company also habitually pushes

technology to its extreme to create cars that are visionary for their time, like the Porsche 959. The very design of the 918 Spyder leans towards these deep racing roots, from the large side air intakes to the athletic and sleek nose of the car. The removable roof features two large domes which are designed to accommodate a driver and passenger wearing helmets. The rear of the car is separated from the front by the side air intakes, which travel all the

way up the B-pillar, creating a definitive distinction between the tapered front end and more muscular rear.  Even the name of the 918 Spyder derives from Porsche racing history as the company draws a connection with the legendary 917 racecar that flexed its muscles in Le Mans races in the 1970s.
